Child immunisations
Child immunizations are crucial for protecting children from a variety of preventable diseases.
Your doctor wants to support your and your childās vaccination programme to minimise their risk of illness.
Hepatitis B Vaccine
Given shortly after birth and in a series of doses, this vaccine protects against hepatitis B, a viral infection affecting the liver.
Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis
Protects against diphtheria, tetanus (lockjaw), and whooping cough (pertussis). The primary series is usually given in early childhood, with booster shots recommended later.
Hib Vaccine
Protects against Haemophilus Influenzae type b, a bacterium that can cause severe infections, including meningitis and pneumonia particularly in young children.
Polio Vaccine
Protects against polio, a highly infectious disease that can lead to paralysis.
RV Vaccine
Guards against rotavirus, a common cause of severe diarrhoea and dehydration in infants and young children.
MMR Vaccine
Provides immunity against measles, mumps, and rubella. Given in two doses.
Meningitis ACWY
This is given at 12 months to
protect against meningitis strains A, C, W and Y.
Meningitis B (Bexsero)
This vaccine protects against meningitis strain B. It is free for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients. For the rest of the population this is a private vaccine which we stock in the clinic. Your doctor highly recommends that parents consider this vaccine.
